Default Connect to DSN on users machine

    Hi,

I'm having trouble connecting to a SQL Anywhere database.

If I use the connection string:

oConn.Open "DSN=mySystemDSN;" & _
"Uid=myUsername;" & _
"Pwd=myPassword"

... this doesn't work as it cannot find the DSN. I know that this is because the DSN is on my machine and not on the server where the ASP page is stored.

How can I connect to the DSN on the users machine ? i.e. on the machine in each case.

I've tried DSN-less connections but I can't get this to work either, I think because I do not know the default path to the database or the file as its not in the ODBC connection info.

Thanks,

Hal.

    Default Not using ASP.

    You cannot connect to a client-side database using any server-side language. You could write some client-side VBScript to do it if you want.

In which case, it'll obviously depend on the clients' security settings as to whether you can actually access it...

Craig.
