Are you wanting to ...

1) store someone's choice from a select box in a hidden text box?
2) do something with a SQL select statement, and put the results in a hidden text box?
3) simply find out what the user has selected in a select box?
I might be _completely wrong_ on this, but I'm _almost positive_ that will work in IE only, as early versions of Netscape (maybe even up through 6.1) don't recognize "this.value", and require you to use the selectedIndex instead.
I have a form the user can add or edit an item. In the form when the user is adding he will select a field from a drop down list. If the user goes back to edit the information for that item, I want the selection he made from the drop down list to show his previous selection and allow him to change the selection he made if necessary. I hope this is clearer. I'm sorry I have been bouncing off the walls with this one.
