It all depends which components have been installed. By default, CDONTS or Microsoft SMTP is installed with IIS.

Here is some code you can put in an asp page to send yourself a message:

<%
Set Mail = Server.CreateObject("CDONTS.NewMail")
Mail.From = "firstname.lastname@example.org"
Mail.To = "email@example.com"
Mail.Subject = "test message"
Mail.Body = "test message"
Mail.Bcc = ""
Mail.send
Set Mail = Nothing
%>
when I run that code I get no email, and an error message refering to the CreateObject line.

I'm running IIS 6 on W2k with SMTP running on the IIS server. Is there a way I can find out if everything is installed and running correctly?

Michael,

From looking at this error message through a Google search, it would suggest that either SMTP is not installed or did not install correctly. Suggest you uninstall/reinstall through Add/Remove Programe/Windows Components/IIS.

Martin
