It seems as though you cannot reference an HTML object (such as a text input box) if there is client-side script in the "<input>" tag. For example, I am setting the initial value of the control with a variable derived from an external component...

<input type="text" id="text1" value="<%=oSample.Age%>">

Ho wever, when I try to reference the textbox in a JavaScript event handler, it says the object does not exist.

I am using Visual InterDev and noticed that if you remove the client-side script, the object becomes available.

Is this something unique to VID? How would I be able to set the value as I described but still be able to reference the object? (For example, I&#039d like to validate the textbox to make sure a number has been entered).

Many thanks,
Dave
