I am working on an online brochure which pulls details from an SQL Server Database. I am connecting using ADO and a DNLess connection string, currently using windows native security.

Upon first requesting data from the database there is a long delay until it finally connects and retrieves data. From this point on data access is fairly fast, unless it is left inactive for some time when I presume it Times Out and closes the connection.

I am new to this and wondered how I could reduce the time it takes to initially open the connection to the database?

Any help very much appreciated.
