Default Get NT Logon from Registry

I need to be able to get the NT logon value from the Registry through an intranet ASP. Basically, I want to verify that the user logged on to the system is a valid user without having to set up a whole new system of passwords. Since everyone&#039s logon is their employee number, I can cross-reference this to a list in the database directly, since we can assume that if an employee will only be logged on as him/herself.

You can use NT Challenge/Response. If you have the NTCR option turned on in IIS for your web directory, then those logged on through the intranet will have their NT login name appear in the Request.ServerVariables("LOGON_USER") variable. (See http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/webtech/092298-3.shtml.)<BR><BR>There is a great article on ActiveServerPages.com explaining NTCR and other authentication methods:<BR>http://www.activeserverpages.com/learn/authenticateoverview.asp<BR><BR>Happy Programming!
