Default CSS - visited/hover states

Is there a way to overwrite the visited state of a link if it has been clicked on in the CSS properties?

Say for example I have a list of links - they are all orange. When you hover over these links they turn white. If the link has been visited it turns gray. Now, I want to disable the visited state so even if the link as been visited the gray will not show up.

Basically a link would always be orange whether visited or not and would always hover to white wether it had been visited or not.

Thanks for any help.
