I am in the process of switching a site from coldfusion to ASP for a client of mine. One of my first tasks is to rework the Access database and remove duplications etc. I notice that one of the tables has 30 fields which are of the datatype text where there is either a y or n in them for yes/no instead of the yes/no datatype. Would it help performance wise if I were to switch these to the y/n datatype since that is only 1 bit versus the 1 byte used to hold the y or n? There is presently less than 100 hundred records in the database. Would it even be worth the bother to convert it to the y/n datatype?
