I am trying to pull 4 text fields along with a few other fields from a sql server table. I am familiar with the problem of pulling text fields and then having the data disappear if you don't select those first in your query and assign them to a variable upon opening the recordset. But that isn't the problem here. In fact, I've even tried opening a query for each text field on its own so that I wasn't pulling any other data. Anyway, I keep getting an exception occurred on the line where I try to assign the value of the field to a variable. What's weird is that I first did a check on the field to see if it's null and even when I open the query in query analyzer, I can see the field is null, when I run the query in asp, it gets inside that if statement basically saying that it isn't null.

if not isNull(rs("Comments")) then
Comments = trim(rs("Comments") & "")
else
Comments = vbnullstring
end if

It keeps bombing on the 2nd line even though as I previously said, that field is null. It's only happening on text fields and it doesn't even matter if the field holds any data or not, I always get an exception occurred error. Any ideas? Thanks.
