is it ??

document.form1.field1.checked = true

if the box is checked
document.form1.field1.checked == true;

or you could simply do

if (document.form1.field1.checked)
in vbscript ???

I would like to read the value of the field and if the value is true the display a checked box.
In this forum, it's "assumed" that people use JS on the client, and VBS on the server. If you're not doing that setup, say so in your post.

Then what you have is correct.
if the field value is "true" then display a checked box

if field1value = true Then
document.form1.field1.checked = true
end if

is the above OK
