Default Remote vs. Local file

I'm creating an internal website that reads through files on the webserver and on remote share folders. My page reads the file information into an array...including the location. When creating a link to the files on the webserver I use a FormatURL function to convert the file name into a URL....but..there is no way to access the remote share files using a URL...I have to use the UNC to link to it. Is there any command that would tell me if a file is local or from a remote share? Thanks for any info.

If you create a virtual directory in IIS which is a remote folder mapped using drive mappings, the users will be able to connect to the file using a URL via your site, i.e..

Where RemoteVFolder is actually a virtual dir on another server.
