Hi,
I have a bit of a problem. I have two computers, one which is running IIS and one which is using a standalone application. The standalone application dumps a system loading status file in the Apache dir which can be viewed at http://servername2/loadingstatus.txt . In this text file is a number which indicates what state server2 is in. I want to be able to read this text file on server1 (IIS) so I can draw up a HTML page dependent on this status. All is fine except I can't get a connection to the second server. I would have thought I could set up a connection like this -

<%
' Create an instance of the the File System Object and assign it to objFSO.
Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")

' Open the file
ForReading = 1
Set objTextFile = objFSO.GetFile("http://gbdrsgpi006/loadingstatus.txt")

Do While Not objTextFile.AtEndOfStream
Response.Write objTextFile.ReadLine & "
" & vbCrLf
Loop

' Close the file.
objTextFile.Close

' Release reference to the text file.
Set objTextFile = Nothing

' Release reference to the File System Object.
Set objFSO = Nothing
%>

But no luck. Similarly I tried replacing the GetFile with OpenTextFile but no joy either. Plus MapPath is not what I want to be using.

This is really annoying, I can see the text file via IE but I can't get to it using ASPs.

Any ideas anybody?
