Default Combining User Controls

When using classic asp I used to make little Class objects or series of functions to build commonly used HTML for sites and put them all into a common include file. I am now attempting to use User Controls (ascx files) and am finding them very useful. My question is if there is a way to combine multiple ones into single files. I find myself with many '@ Register's and was wondering if there was a more efficient way to do this.

Specifically I do things like make openPage and closePage controls for all of the applicable pages in a site.

unfortunately, the answer to that is a big fat no... the only way you'd be able to skimp on the imports is by putting all user controls in a .dll, then adding the controls to the page programmatically.

if that's no an option... there are always include files ;-)
