Hi,

I'm setting up a COM component (though this would apply equally well to a pure-ASP solution) which will attach an arbitrary (specified) file to an email. When sending the email I naturally need to specify the MIME type for the attachment. As IIS has a MIME map table already specified I want to use this to determine the MIME type of a particular file based on its extension. It would seem to me this should be fairly simple to do, but I can't establish how to access the appropriate information. I don't really want to go through the metabase unless there is a way of getting to the MIME mapping in an unprivileged, read-only mode (I refuse to give my application administrative privileges over IIS just to do a MIME mapping!). Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers,

Chris Tucker
