I need to hide the first five digits of a Social Security Number brought in from a database. Want it so the number displays like this; *****1234.
Any ideas?
Response.Write String("*", Len(RS("SSN") - 4) & Right(RS("SSN"), 4)

-Doug
i thought the length was first, then the character to repeat?

why not just response.write("***-**-" & right(rs("ssn"), 4))
response.write "*****" & Right(RS("SSN"),4)
I picked up the other method from doing CC validations. Mostly because I think AMEX cards are only 13 characters while all others are 16.

-Doug
I'm not sure of the syntax for the String() function. Someone should check the docs.

But, yes, you are also correct about it being easier to do the Response.Write "***-**-" & ...

-Doug
