Default duplicate insertion error

I talking with a friend about ways to prevent duplicate record insertion in an Access db we discovered that we use the same method but in different ways.

He uses if Err.Number = -2147217887 then

and I use if Err.Number = -2147217900 then

Both work but I'm curious as to why. Can't find it in the docs so I wonder if anyone may know.
