I'm new to SQL and I'm stumped. I couldn't find the answer to my question anywhere on the web as I don't even really know how to pose the question properly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The scenario:

I have an ASP page with a extensive form for adding a new "Feedback" record in a table called tblFeedback (the table key is "fbID"). The feedback page also contains a "Notes" text area that enters data into a table called tblNotes (the tblNotes table also include a column called "relFbID" to form a relationship between the feedback and the note(s)). Simple enough.

However, when the records are created I need to insert the newly generated "fbID" from tblFeedback into the "relFbID" column in tblNotes - otherwise the relationship won't occur.

I don't know how to do this because I can't request the most recently added fbID as another user may be entering a new record simultaneously and that would obviously cause problems.

I imagine this is to do with my relationship settings, and default values, however I really don't know where to start or even the terminology to search for examples by.

I know this is a nuisance post... but I could really use help with this.

Thanks in advance.
