I'm learning C#, ASP.NET and SQL Server to upgrade my existing website using JScript, ASP, and MS Access. So I'm trying to write a script to merge the data from the old database to the new one.

I'm having issues with successfully connecting to the SQL Server, though. I'm actually using the desktop engine for development, but it's supposed to be equivalent. I think it's a problem with my connection string:

String NewDBConnectionString = "Server=localhost\VSdotNET;Database=X;UID=sa;PWD=t he_password";
SqlConnection NewDBConnection = new SqlConnection( NewDBConnectionString );
NewDBConnection.Open();
NewDBConnection.C lose();

I get an error when I try to .Open the connection:

[SqlException: SQL Server does not exist or access denied.]

This is the first time I've used SQL Server... am I using the correct user name? Or is there anything else obviously wrong? I'd appreciate any help you could offer.
