My problem is simple but a little confusing. I have a select in my form that represents gender type. Here is my code:

Select Gender
<option <% if cgender1 ="1" then response.write " selected" %>>Male
<option <% if cgender1 ="2" then response.write " selected" %>>Female

my problem is that i want the user to upon first visit to select a gender type(among other things), which i then will retrieve on another page through request.form("cgender1")- i then using FSO write the contents of form to a file. I then redirect back to a previous page in the web where there is a several buttons, one which leads to the same form. Before i open this original "base" page, I using FSO open the file that has the form contents and these contents are stored line by line in variables. How do i set this up so that if the user is new he/she can submit form, i get their choice, but also if they already have submitted display thier choice?????
