Default Windows NT Challenge/Response

I am running IIS4 on NT Server. I have set the Authentication options to Basic Authentication and WinNt Challenge/Response.

How come when someone other than an administrator tries to use the asp scripts.. it asks for their user name and password, which it won't accept... but it will accept an administrator's password?

possibly the NTFS permissions on the files preclude it. IIS authentication works in two places.

the ACL (access control list) governing system and user access to resources
the MMC (microsoft management console) where you choose which auth type you wish to use.

the ACL permissions are probably not set suitably. set them via the properties pane in windows explorer.

j
