You can't change the browsers URL without redirecting the user.

If they hit refresh the page starts over like nothing ever happend.

What are you trying to accomplish and we might be able to help with that.

-Doug
it long but here goes

the user hit save button from button's onclick calls a vbscript the does a couple things then re-submits the form to itself

example:
document.all.right1.acti on = "right1.asp?ButtonType=" & sBT _
& "&sUsername=" & stestVal
document.all.right1.method = "Post"
document.all.right1.submit()

9;-----
sBT holds the name of the button that the user pressed. so in the asp code at the top it does a request.querystring("ButtonType") and the performs an if statement eveluate it and do some processing. then there are hidden fields in the html that hold some asp values needed for later processing. but when user refreshs the page ButtonType still = "Save" therefore it runs everything again ...not good. but if i redirect I lose my asp values need for later processing. maybe i'm redirecting wrong.
