Default File Download not using Anchor tag

I want to download files from the FTP server.I know if anyone clicks on an <A> anchor tag and mention the FTP address in the href property of it will start downloading the file from the ftp.But I don't want the users to see the URL when they take the cursor on the link...(as it appears in the status bar on left bottom side of the browser) there any way to avoide the link ? or way to supress the url in the status bar?

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Mark

    Default onMouseOver Javascript.

To hide the URL while their mouse is over the link, use some simple Javascript.

<a href="" onMouseOver="window.status='Download File';return true;" onMouseOut="window.status=''; return true;">Download File</a>

This will not, however, hid the URL from the Address bar when they click on the file.

-Doug
