Default Connecting with global.asa

I am looking for some help connecting to a SQL Server database from the global.asa file. I found an article here ( that uses a session variable to store the connection. This article has a note on it that using session variables for large objects is not a good idea. I agree. Is there another option? Is there a way to create a connection in the global.asa and have it available to the asp pages?

Thanks,
Lori
I put my connectionstring in an Application() variable, then open the connection on each page. it really is a lot more efficient than trying to store a connection in session (which will nail your server's performance to the ground)

j
