You should be able to use a data type of "ntext" or "text" these are similar to memo fields in access and can store blob type data...

For HTML tags I'd simply include them with the text being stored in the "ntext" or "text" field...

Hope this helps...
It is very helpful.

Also... how do I highlight the selected text (say when I search for keyword in the text).. like that in Visual Studio MSDN help, which highlights the keywords on which we have run the search.
They are pain to deal with. For most applications, VARCHAR(8000) is enough.

To highlight keywords, do an Instr to get the begining location, and then insert a "" before and after it. Pretty simple - read up on string manipulations in the FAQs.

-Doug
Thanks Doug..
I stored my Text embedded in HTML tags on to varchar field..and when I retrieved the same for display..it is displaying the HTML tags instead og rendering them.. how do I take care of rendering HTML tags ?
Sorry Doug, I didn't check properly. When I read the stored HTML back to Textarea, it displayed the HTML tags. The same when I just displayed in a column, it rendered the HTML properly.

Thanks for your help.

Sunitha
