I had that initially and it kept on giving me an error "Page cannot be displayed", confusing as the page is their??? I redone the code and now it gave me an "an HTTP redirect request failed"

code ****

if session("alias") <> "" then
'view balance of page
else
response.redirect("otherpage.asp")
end if

***
Why would this have anything to do with Sessions?

does it work if you don't check the session and just do response.redirect("otherpage.asp")?

If not then you need to fix that problem first before you make things more complicated.
Actually "" is something... its an empty string. IsEmpty can be used to check to see if the actual item in a session exists. I find that in vbscript checking for "" doesnt always work.. but does seem to work for most cases... like with the session object it works pretty well.

Session("funky") = "" ' The following statement will be true

If not IsEmpty(session("Something")) then
' Session exists

Else
' Session doesnt exists

End if
