I've recently inherited a fairly sophisticated set of COM components that are used throughout our ASP-driven site. However, I've had quite a difficult time with the registration and deregistration of components. More specifically, the problems I am having is that even though the call to regsvr32 returns success, it doesn't seem that the component has been registered. In some cases, I need to physically reboot (not just shut down services) in order for the component to be read by the server. Is there a clean way to handle this in Windows2000? Also, is there a way to reliably identify which components are currently active and what their path and registration timestamp are?

I've heard COM+ solves many of these problems, but the components I am using are not built with references to COM+.

Thanks in advance!

-ben
