Default Sql Data type text/ntext

Anybody have an idea why I can't read data types text of ntext from a sql database using an ASP page. I keep getting an error:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80040E21)
Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.

Error goes as soon as i change to varchar or nvarchar, but i need a field that can handle a bit more that 8000 characters. I will be very greatful for any help

I believe the text/ntext field has to be either
a. the only field in your select list
b. the last field selected in your select list.

Do some response.writing of

Err.number
Err.location
Err.source

to see if you can uncover some other information

mj

    Default Uh Oh..

Try reading the fields in the same order as they are in the database, failing that try reading only the text field without reading the other fields.

This is a known bug.
