Default SQL: Where Vs. Inner Joins

    Hi ppl,

my site is all driven through one 'very' intensive asp page with pretty much everything driven off the database and the "Server too Busy" message is far from funny so I need to pick the hell out of the code.

Firstly many many thanks for this 4guysfromrolla network, you guys have everything an ASP programmer could ever need (well me so far anyway).

My question is a pretty simple one, but I haven't found anything on it: What's the difference (mainly performance-wise) of simply using a WHERE statement to pick data from two databases and using an INNER JOIN statement???

eg. SELECT * FROM table1, table2 WHERE table1.column = table2.column;
AND
SELECT * FROM table1 INNER JOIN table2 ON table1.column = table2.column;

Thanks,

    Default They are the same

    The first way is not really the ANSI standards but in terms of preformance i would get out on a limb and say they are the same.
