Welcome to ASP Messageboard! This page is intended to inform you of the purpose
of this site! If, after reading the FAQ, you find your question unanswered, please feel free
to email me at mitchell@4guysfromrolla.com or via
the Web-based feedback form.
Do I Need to Create Some Sort of User Account to Use this Messageboard?
You do not need to create an account to read the messages, but to post, you will need an account.
To create an account, visit the Create Account Page, where you will
asked to give a desired Username and Email address. Note that you cannot reuse email addresses. That is,
once you create an account with email address x, you cannot create another account ever
using the email address specified. Once you create an account, a validation code will be emailed to the
specified email address with instructions on how to validate your account. You cannot post any messages
until your account has been validated. This measure is in place to make it more of a pain for those who are
banned from the ASPMessageboard to create new accounts.
You're Saying that I can be Banned from ASPMessageboard.com!?!?
Yep. I've only had to ban a small handful of users, and they were banned because either they were
posting SPAM or because they were being terribly offensive and vulgar in their posts (swearing, using
sexual slang terms to insult other users, etc.). Just be nice and you won't get banned. :-)
OK, I created an Account, but I want to Change my Password / Email / Username
You can change your password by visiting the Change Password Page.
You cannot change your email address or username (for reasons mentioned in the first question on
this FAQ). If you absolutely must have a new user name or email, you're going to have to create a new
account. Sorry, but dem's the breaks.
Dear Lord, the Font Used is TOO SMALL!
If you want to increase the font size of the forum display listings visit the
Customize the Thread Display page. There you can choose
between a number of font sizes and styles for the thread display pages.
How the heck do I post a new question?
When you enter a forum, you'll see at the top a welcome message. For example,
in the ASP Q & A Forum, the introduction message reads:
"Got a Question about Active Server Pages? Ask your question here! ..." To
post a new message in this forum, simply click on the RESPOND link directly
below the introduction message! That's it! :) Of course you'll need to have an account setup
and created.
Can I use any formatting in my posts?
Yep. See formatting page for more information.
What does that printer icon thingie do?
Go ahead and click it! It creates a printer-friendly view of a message!
Will HTML examples in my posts be shown as text or HTML?
HTML snippets will be shown as text! That means if you post something like this:
<B>Hello</B>
You will see exactly that in the post, not:
Hello
Can I get the source code to this message board?
No. Sorry. This message board was made possible by Doug Dean's excellent
EZForum Software, which is a commercial application.
I highly recommend it, though, and think it is well worth the initial investment. If
you would prefer source code to examine, you can find a list of message board systems
here.
